Join j’adore Detroit & Citizen Yoga – Detroit, the most non-exclusive event planners on the planet, for Stop Drop & Detroit: Boards + Beers Edition (facebook event page) on July 12th @ 1pm.

After our first successful Stop Drop & Detroit at Motor City Wine, we are going to dabble in some beer for our next non-exclusive party where we get together and “do fun stuff” as Kacee likes to describe it. Our friends at Batch Brewing Company, Detroit’s most awesome nano brewery with an amazing menu (seriously REALLY GOOD), are letting us do a game day takeover for the first time in Batch history. This means Euchre, Poker, Monopoly, Sorry, Uno, Cards against humanity, and any and any other games that connect us to the child within and with new friends of course in a social gathering welcome and open to all.

Feel free to bring friends or come alone and explore a new place in the city with some new people. If you get there early and find our crew (this time we’ll be wearing shirts because we fancy)in the Stop Drop & Detroit gear, we will buy your first Batch beer!

This summer is about to heat up with randomness and we hope you join us for the ride

xoxo

Red Bull Hart Lines @ Hart Plaza THIS WEEKEND!

Red Bull Hart Lines Detroit

Attn Class:

In an earlier post about this weekends activities, I can’t believe I forgot to mention Red Bull Hart Lines!

Tomorrow and Saturday afternoon, coming to Detroit’s Hart Plaza, is a brand new street skateboarding competition from the mind of Ryan Sheckler. Red Bull Hart Lines sets out to produce a high-energy skateboard event featuring an innovative new contest format.

The format will feature two lanes, each with its own unique set of skateable features. The course will incorporate a mix of existing stair sets, rails and ledges, along with features designed by California RampWorks. Athletes will skate each lane once, then for their third run the choice is theirs. The top score from each lane will be averaged to determine the skater’s overall score.

Dante will be DJing so get your booty moving and check it out if you’re downtown tomorrow for the qualifying round!  Plenty of Red Bull new Editions to be had.

Candopalooza + The Detroit Bus Company

So much fun this weekend hanging with the crew downtown for Candopalooza in the D.  Screen Shot 2015-04-05 at 1.42.41 PM

We had such an awesome experience with the Detroit Bus Company.  They are doing amazing things for the city like the Youth Transit Alliance, which allows students free transportation to after school programs in SW Detroit.  Detroit is flawed when it comes to transportation and The Detroit Bus Company is helping to remedy this issue by allowing students to take advantage of programs available to them along with helping people get to work if they are unable to and provide for their families.  They also have history tours, drinking tours, bar crawls, etc. as part of their yearly schedule of events.  We had a private tour on Saturday and came up with an itinerary crossing Corktown, Midtown, and Eastern Market.

Stop One: St Cece’s for brunch in Corktown (ask for Two James and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice – YUM)

Stop Two: Bronx Bar in Midtown – one of my favorite bars in the city during the summertime when the patio is open and their food is really good.  Get the fried pickles and a burger!

Stop Three: Old Miami in Midtown – the back yard at Old Miami is where it’s at. Definitely top spots for great music and DJs always with great vibes.

Stop Four: LJs Lounge in Corktown for karaoke with Robby Rob.  If you haven’t rocked out with Robby Rob, you’re missing out.  You can find him at a different bar in Detroit any night of the week.  LJs Lounge gets forgotten about all too often but it’s a great spot for a few beers and and some interesting characters.

Stop Five: The last stop but certainly not the least – Thomas Magees whiskey bar is my jam in Eastern Market.  More whiskeys than you can handle and an amazing and accommodating staff, who made Candopalooza that much better, despite the MSU loss.  For games, this is a must.  They will be open tomorrow at 9am for opening day and there’s plenty of parking and easy route downtown to the stadium.

Stop Six, Seven, Eight….. blurry ….

More on Detroit Bus Company:

To keep our beers cold on the bus, we debuted our new koozie prototype and sipped on some of our favorite beers from Shorts Brewing.

From Brooklyn Outdoor family, I received these beautiful Michigan plates made by @corbecompany who just moved into town to make Detroit their new home in the Russell Center.  Great gifts for anyone and everyone…check them out and welcome them to the D!

Magical Brunch @ Trinosophes

FOOD CUTIE

IMG_1749It’s probably not the best idea to blog about a really great place when you’re upset, but I’m supposed to be with my best friend in Philly tonight …and I’m still in Detroit. My flight got canceled and rebooked and delayed and finally all flights to the east coast were called off for the day and my vacation is on a 36-hour hold. After going to the airport and hanging out for a few hours only to come back home, I was sad pants about it.

Luckily, I have a great sister who will drive around Detroit with me in search of red velvet oreos and call around to different stores to inquire about inventory. Do they exist? A small, smart-ass child in the cookie aisle informed us the red velvet oreas were only on sale during the month of February. It seems we are a few days late. Also…

Cocktails at Sugar House in Corktown

always amazing. If you like a nice and well prepared balanced craft cocktail like I do, Sugar House does not disappoint in Corktown. There is a drink that knocks your socks off if you like or do not like whiskey. It comes out smoking and everyone I take there gets hooked. It’s not on the menu, but just ask for their smokey whiskey special and they’ll know what you’re talking about.

Also…word to the wise if you are waiting for a table at any of the local establishments, I stopped into a nice little dive bar LJs Sweetheart lounge next door and it was a little treat. Looks cheesy from the outside, but I had a blast mingling with the people and playing touch screen.
